CIVIQ attends Parks & Leisure Australia Congress
CIVIQ’s new bike repair station and outdoor shower feature at the International parks and Leisure Congress
The CIVIQ sales team recently attended the 2018 International Parks Congress, co-hosted with Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA), in order to exhibit CIVIQ’s new outdoor shower and bike repair products. The theme of the Congress was Transforming Urban Parks and Recreation and it was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Parks and Leisure Australia is the peak body for professionals in the Parks and Leisure sector, providing training, professional development, research, advocacy and a variety of products and services. Its mission is to ‘build, serve and develop a strong and united parks and leisure industry in Australia’ and the international meeting addressed the impact that urban density and growth will have on our parks, leisure and sport worldwide. Their aim is to advocate for our public open spaces, and in this way improving the quality of our leisure time.
Seven hundred delegates, including councils and representatives of government bodies from 20 countries, attended a 4-day packed program of presentations, workshops, masterclasses and technical tours.
Keynote speakers included:
- Dr Julia Miranda Londono, Deputy Chair IUCN WCPA, Columbia
- Mitchell Silver, NY Parks Commissioner, USA
- Gil Penalosa, 8-80 Cities, Canada
- Bishop Ngobeli, Johannesburg Parks Commissioner, South Africa
- Jayne Miller, President, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, USA
